The Austin Weekender: August 21–23, 2026

August 21, 2026 edition

This is an archive of the original Weekender selections for the dates above. Schedules and property details describe that edition, not current events or availability.

The White Horse opened this edition with live music and dancing. The rest of the roundup paired larger performances with daytime outings, including water activities at Hill Country Galleria and a Sunday car gathering at PopStroke.

The weekend’s events

Friday Happy Hour Residency

Original schedule: Friday, August 21st | 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Jacob Alan Jaeger’s Friday residency at the White Horse was paired with beginner dance lessons. The newsletter presented it as a way to hear live music and spend time on the dance floor in the same evening.

PBR Gambler Days

Original schedule: Friday, August 21st - Sunday, August 23rd | Times Vary

PBR Gambler Days combined team bull riding with a music program across the weekend. The original selection named several performers, but the central attraction was the team competition in the arena.

Austin Sketch Fest

Original schedule: Friday, August 21st - Sunday, August 23rd | 6:00 PM - 1:00 AM

Austin Sketch Fest featured live scripted comedy from Austin and visiting performers. A weekend badge was highlighted for readers interested in attending several shows rather than choosing just one performance.

End of Summer Splash

Original schedule: Saturday, August 22nd | 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

End of Summer Splash brought water activities to Hill Country Galleria. The newsletter listed the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; its separate reference to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. described regular splash-pad hours, not the duration of every special activity.

Chrome & Coffee

Original schedule: Sunday, August 23rd | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Chrome & Coffee at PopStroke combined a car gathering with coffee and the option to play mini golf. The selection offered a Sunday morning outing built around looking at cars and spending time at the venue.
