Located in the eclectic neighborhood of Cherrywood, 1704 Giles Street was previously owned by the late KUT/KUTX deejay, John Aielli. Aielli was a beloved Austin icon who dominated Austin’s radio scene for over 50 years. After his passing this summer, his home opened up to the public for an estate sale where locals were allowed a further glimpse into his life. Here, nearly every square inch of the house was covered in pictures, rugs, trinkets, lamps, CDs — all collected by Aielli over the years. The Austin Chronicle and several other news outlets posted about the estate sale which helped contribute to a two hour long line to access the home.
Now—with all of Aielli’s belongings removed from the home, 1704 Giles Street is now on the market and will be sold “as-is.” This is a great opportunity to lock in a piece of Austin history and make it your own. Cherrywood is a highly accessible neighborhood, located near I-35, east of the UT Austin campus. This puts you within minutes of downtown, and within walking distance of some of east Austin’s treasures like Cherrywood Coffee House, Haymaker, Patrizi’s, and Bird Bird Biscuit.
